Tigers Win Steve McDermott Invite

Newton, IA – September 23, 2025

The ADM Girls Cross Country team put together a dominant performance on Tuesday evening, winning the Steve McDermott Invitational at Maytag Park in Newton. The Tigers captured the team title with 28 points, edging out Albia (44 points), Marshalltown (78 points), and Knoxville (83 points).

Team Depth Leads the Way

ADM's balanced lineup proved to be the difference, as the Tigers placed five runners in the top eight overall. Sophomore Elliotte Von Roden led the charge with a strong third-place finish in 21:04.4. She was closely followed by junior Allie Eggleston, who secured fourth in 21:24.4.

Junior Lydia Georgick (6th, 23:03.6), freshman Claira Uthe (7th, 23:15.9), and senior Ella Popp (8th, 23:17.1) all packed tightly to secure ADM's low team score. Junior Addy Bjork (10th, 23:22.9) and senior Alaina Nelson (16th, 24:20.0) provided even more depth, with all seven varsity runners finishing inside the top 16 overall.

ADM's average time was 22:25, with just over a two-minute spread across the scoring five – a testament to the team's consistency and depth.

Albia was led by standout senior McKenna Montgomery, who won the individual title in 19:32.7. Her freshman sister, Mady Montgomery, finished runner-up in 20:55.6. Despite Albia's strong 1-2 punch, ADM's pack running secured the victory.

Marshalltown and Knoxville rounded out the team scoring, with both programs placing runners in the top 15 but unable to match ADM's depth.
