Girls Cross Opens Season Against Strong Field

The ADM Girls Cross Country team officially kicked off their 2025 campaign on Saturday, August 30th at the Johnston Sunrise Invitational, competing against a strong field of schools from across central Iowa. The meet showcased fast early-season performances, with ADM finishing 9th overall in the team standings.

Team Results

The Tigers battled through warm conditions and a competitive lineup of Class 4A and 3A programs. ADM scored 207 team points, placing just behind Earlham (196) and ahead of Bondurant-Farrar (251). Host school Johnston claimed the team title with 43 points, edging Des Moines Christian by just six points.

ADM's Top Finishers

ADM's scoring pack was led by sophomore Elliotte Von Roden, who crossed the line in 20:37.2 for 26th place overall. She was followed closely by junior Allie Eggleston, finishing 33rd in 20:50.1.

The rest of ADM's scoring lineup included:

  • Ella Popp (Sr.) – 46th place, 21:53.4

  • Addy Bjork (Jr.) – 49th place, 22:02.7

  • Lydia Georgick (Jr.) – 53rd place, 22:33.6

Displacement runners Karley Mattes (Jr.) and Alexa Williams (Jr.) provided valuable depth, finishing in 23:10.8 and 23:16.7 respectively.

ADM's team average was 21:35.4, with a scoring spread of under two minutes, a promising sign for the Tigers as the season progresses.
