Schwertfeger Named New Head Girls Track and Field Coach
ADM is excited to announce that Sara Schwertfeger has accepted the position of Head Girls Track and Field Coach at ADM pending approval by the ADM School Board.
Coach Schwertfeger brings a tremendous pedigree in track and field to the ADM Girls Track and Field program along with her vision to continue to make the program one of the top in the state of Iowa. Coach Schwertfeger will lead the program after Bart Mueller's retirement from teaching and coaching after over 30 years
Sara has 17 years of coaching experience across three different programs that brings high levels of success and experience to the ADM Track and Field program. Coach Schwertfeger was an assistant coach for Solon where they won a team title in 2010. Her next stop was as an assistant coach for Dowling Catholic for 9 years, where she helped lead athletes to multiple top placements in both the Drake Relays and the state meet. Recently, Sara has been a part of the ADM, where she has coached the middle school track and field program along with being an assistant for the high school girls cross country team.
Sara's experiences as a track and field athlete have also constantly demonstrated a high level of success and commitment. Coach Schwertfeger was a four time Drake Relays & State Champion in the hurdles. Sara was also Drake Relays Female Athlete of the Meet. She ran collegiately at Iowa State University, where she was a captain of the team and NCAA qualifier. Sara has also spent time giving back to the track and field community by serving as a board member for the The Track Guy Foundation.
Sara and her husband, Jeremy have been happily married for 17 years. They have 3 kids in the ADM school district. Trey (sophomore), Charlee (8th), and Taylor (6th). While at ISU Sara majored in dietetics and continues her passion to educate women on nutrition and lifestyle habits as a nutrition educator. Sara and her family love to travel the world and "do hard things."
When asked about being named the Head Girls Track and Field Coach at ADM, Coach Schwertfeger stated, "I'd be honored. Coach Mueller built a winning tradition at ADM, and my goal is simple: honor that legacy, keep the success going, and push it even further. I look forward to empowering young women through track and field."
