STATE CHAMPS! Girls Track & Field Repeats
The ADM Tigers have done it again! The ADM Girls Track and Field team secured their second consecutive Class 3A State Championship in dominating fashion, finishing with 67 points to take the top spot in this year's state competition. The Tigers, who came into the meet as the defending champions, delivered a performance to remember, edging out both Mt. Vernon and Gilbert, who tied for second with 58 points each.
Key Performances
The ADM team's momentum was set early in the meet with stellar performances in the hurdles. Senior Josi Dufoe and junior Elise Coghlan were untouchable in the 100m hurdles, with Dufoe claiming the state title with a personal best of 14.50 seconds. Coghlan wasn't far behind, earning the runner-up spot with a time of 14.55 seconds. Both times also ranked among the top performances in Iowa.
Dufoe's performance didn't end there, as she also played a pivotal role in multiple relay victories. The Tigers' 4x100m relay team, consisting of Dufoe, Coghlan, Calli Seehase, and Paige Standley, took home the state championship in a blazing 48.50 seconds, marking a new season best.
The 4x100m shuttle hurdle relay, another strong point for the Tigers, saw Dufoe, Coghlan, Brecken Smyth, and Hailey Nelson blaze to a state-meet-record time of 1:01.15, a new season best for the team. The victory here added a crucial 10 points to ADM's overall total, helping them keep their lead.
In the field events, ADM continued to shine. Senior London Warmuth cleared 5-07.00 in the high jump, securing second place and an additional 8 points for the Tigers. Meanwhile, in the discus throw, junior Lauren Hagedorn earned a solid 6th place finish with a throw of 125 feet, contributing 3 points. Kennedy Stanford also added points for the Tigers in the shotput.
Relay Success
Relay races were a critical part of ADM's success, and the Tigers excelled in nearly every relay event. In addition to their 4x100m and shuttle hurdle victories, the Tigers took second place in the 4x200m relay, with Seehase, Grove, Dufoe, and Tollari racing to a time of 1:42.66. The 4x400m relay team also earned valuable points, finishing seventh with a time of 3:57.82.
Perhaps one of the most exciting finishes of the weekend came in the 800m sprint medley relay, where the ADM team of Aniston Tollari, Seehase, Grove, and Coghlan sprinted to a time of 1:49.22, placing 9th overall but breaking an ADM school record.
Dominating the Competition
With a total of 67 points, ADM finished ahead of the competition, outpacing second-place Mt. Vernon (58 points) and Gilbert (58 points). Other notable teams included Marion (50 points), Clear Lake (40 points), and Decorah (39 points).
Congratulations to Coach Mueller, the coaching staff, and the entire team on their second consecutive state championship.
