ADM Wrestling Places Fifth at RRC Tournament, Johnson Earns 100th Career Win

The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn boys wrestling team competed at the Raccoon River Conference Tournament on Saturday, January 31, at Ballard High School, finishing fifth overall in the team standings. The day was highlighted by a championship performance from junior Ethan Johnson, who recorded his 100th career high school victory.

Johnson, wrestling at 150 pounds, claimed the RRC title with an impressive run through the bracket. He opened the tournament with a fall in the quarterfinals, followed by back-to-back technical falls in the semifinals and finals. Johnson secured first place with a 19-4 technical fall over Boone's Owen Thomas in the championship match, scoring 25 team points for the Tigers.

ADM had five wrestlers earn third-place finishes on the day. Paxton Sutter (106), Kaden Smith (120), Landon Moorhead (126), Grayson Sutter (138), and Tommy Harbison (285) each battled through the consolation rounds to reach the podium. Moorhead, Grayson Sutter, and Harbison all recorded multiple wins by fall, while Smith and Paxton Sutter added key team points with strong finishes in their respective weight classes.

Henry Krug (165), Jackson Hasty (190), and Bryce Schwenneker (215) each placed fifth, contributing to ADM's overall team score. Hasty earned his fifth-place finish via medical forfeit in the placement match, while Krug and Schwenneker both closed their tournaments with victories by fall.

The Tigers will now turn their attention to postseason competition as they prepare for the district tournament at Norwalk High School on Saturday, February 14.
