ADM Wrestling Makes History at State Tournament

For the first time in program history, ADM Wrestling crowned a state placewinner at the Class 3A IHSAA State Wrestling Tournament, as senior Jon Hatchitt finished in 8th place at 190 pounds. Competing in just their second year at the Class 3A level, the Tigers had a strong showing at Wells Fargo Arena, scoring a total of 20.5 team points.

Jon Hatchitt Makes History

Hatchitt (33-13) became ADM's first-ever Class 3A placewinner, finishing 8th at 190 pounds. His state tournament run started with an impressive 16-1 technical fall victory over Kaleb Breuer of LeMars in the first round. After a close 4-0 loss to Paxton Blanchard (Lewis Central) in the second round, Hatchitt bounced back with a pin over Brecken Ritzert (Pella) in 3:54 and a hard-fought 4-0 decision over Brayton Gipple (Bondurant-Farrar). He continued his run with a 1:49 pin over Johan Gomez (Marshalltown), before dropping a 2-1 tie-breaker to Blanchard in a rematch. Hatchitt's tournament concluded with a 19-3 technical fall loss to Andy Franke (Muscatine) in the 7th place match, securing his historic 8th place finish.

Ethan Johnson Earns Key Wins at 144 Pounds

Ethan Johnson (34-13) contributed 5.0 team points with a solid performance in the 144-pound bracket. He started his tournament strong with a 7-2 decision victory over Kepler Carmichael (North Scott). After falling to Ryan Young (Indianola) in the second round, he rebounded with a 5:24 pin over Will Casey (Western Dubuque). His tournament ended in the third consolation round, where he was pinned by Duncan Harn (Bettendorf).

Karver Sutton Battles at 215 Pounds

Senior Karver Sutton (29-19) scored 4.0 team points at 215 pounds. After dropping his opening-round match to Kade Krause (Dowling Catholic), Sutton won by fall over Holden Heideman (Linn-Mar) in 4:33 in the second consolation round. His tournament ended after a narrow 5-4 decision loss to Brayden Williams (Waukee Northwest).

Grayson Sutter Competes at 138 Pounds

Junior Grayson Sutter (25-15) competed at 138 pounds but did not place, finishing without team points. He lost a tight 9-7 decision to Camron Bennett (Des Moines East) in the opening round and was later eliminated by Lincoln Miller (Waukee) in a 6-0 decision.
