ADM Girls Golf Opens Season Against Defending State Champion Gilbert

The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn (ADM) Girls Golf team teed off the 2025 season on a cool Monday afternoon, hosting the defending state champions, the Gilbert Tigers, at River Valley Golf Course in Adel. Despite a solid showing from ADM's senior-laden roster, the visiting Gilbert team edged ahead to secure the win.
Gilbert, led by the impressive Lohrbach sisters, shot a combined team score of 178 strokes, while ADM finished second with 207 strokes. The matchup offered a strong early-season test for ADM, who showcased depth and experience across the board.
Top Performers Shine on Opening Day
ADM senior Mackenzee Lathrop set the tone for the home team, finishing in third place overall with a score of 48, tied with Gilbert's Abigail Thompson. Fellow senior Hattie Lande also cracked the top five, carding a 49 to place fifth individually. The steady play of these upperclassmen highlighted ADM's competitive spirit and potential.
Rounding out the scoring for ADM were seniors Sara Carolan (54), Annelise Kreifels (56), and Kelli Storck (60), finishing in 8th, 9th, and 11th places respectively. Each golfer contributed to ADM's consistent performance across the leaderboard.
On the Gilbert side, Ava and Ella Lohrbach, both juniors, delivered a commanding 1-2 finish. The twin threat each scored 39 strokes, setting the bar for the competition and establishing Gilbert's continued dominance in the state.
Looking Ahead: A Road Test at Lake Panorama
With the season underway, the ADM Girls Golf team now turns its attention to its next challenge—a road meet at Lake Panorama National Golf Course on Thursday, April 10th at 4:00 PM. The Tigers will look to build on their season debut and aim for their first team win.
