Girls Basketball Completes Sweep of Winterset
The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn girls basketball team earned a strong road win on Thursday, January 22, defeating Winterset 45–32 at Winterset High School.
The girls contest opened with a tightly played first quarter, as ADM edged Winterset 9–8 after one. The Tigers found their rhythm in the second quarter, turning up the defensive pressure and outscoring the Huskies 13–5 to take a 22–13 lead into halftime.
Winterset made a push in the third quarter, trimming the deficit behind a late three-pointer from senior Abby Hoefing. ADM still maintained control, holding a 33–27 advantage heading into the final period. The Tigers closed the door in the fourth quarter, scoring 12 points while limiting Winterset to just five to secure the 45–32 victory.
ADM was led by junior Alexis Maxwell, who scored a game-high 16 points while also adding rebounds, assists, and steady leadership on both ends of the floor. Sophomore Ella Subbert chipped in seven points, and freshman Macie Leinen provided a spark off the bench with six points and strong rebounding.
ADM improves to 9–6 on the season and 8–3 in Raccoon River Conference play. Winterset falls to 5–8 overall and 3–7 in the RRC.
