ADM Falls to Top-Ranked DCG on the Road
Grimes, Iowa – Facing the state's top team on their home floor, the ADM girls basketball squad showed grit and resilience Tuesday night at Dallas Center-Grimes High School. Although No. 1–ranked DCG ultimately pulled away for a 56–40 victory, the Tigers delivered several strong stretches of play—highlighted by a spirited third-quarter surge.
DCG's defensive intensity set the tone early, limiting ADM's rhythm and helping the Mustangs to a 14–5 lead after the opening quarter. The Mustangs continued to apply pressure on both ends of the floor and extended their advantage to 31–16 at halftime.
ADM came out of the break energized, sparked by senior Ellis Smith, who buried back-to-back three-pointers to trim the deficit to single digits. The Tigers played their best basketball of the night in the third quarter, outscoring DCG 16–9 and entering the final frame down just 40–32.
However, the Mustangs—ranked No. 1 in Class 4A—responded to regain control and seal the 56–40 win.
Smith led the Tigers with 13 points, while sophomore Ella Subbert contributed nine.
ADM drops to 0–3 on the young season, while DCG improves to 3–0.
