Tigers Advance to Second Round

The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Girls Basketball team opened their postseason with an impressive victory, defeating Perry 70-15 in the first round of the Class 4A Region 2 tournament on Wednesday. The Tigers, playing on their home court in Adel, dominated from the start and never looked back.

Right from the opening whistle, ADM showcased a blend of solid defense and efficient offense. The Tigers quickly established control with a 25-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. Their defensive pressure was suffocating, while the scoring was well-balanced across the team.

In the second quarter, ADM extended their lead significantly, outscoring Perry 23-4. The Tigers' suffocating defense and fast-paced offense allowed them to take a commanding 48-11 lead into the halftime break, effectively putting the game out of reach for the Jayettes.

The third quarter saw more of the same as ADM continued to pour it on, blanking Perry 8-0 in the period to stretch their lead to 56-11. The final quarter was a strong finish for the Tigers, adding another 14 points to their total, resulting in a final score of 70-15.

Sophomore Alexis Maxwell led the Tigers in scoring with 17 points, showcasing her scoring ability and leadership on the court. She was closely followed by teammate Emma Worley, also a sophomore, who contributed 13 points. Senior Aniston Tollari rounded out the top scorers for ADM with 10 points.

With the win, ADM improves to 14-9 on the season and advances to the next round of the regional tournament.  The Tigers will now look ahead to a familiar opponent as they prepare to face Gilbert for the third time this season. The two teams will square off on Saturday at 7 p.m.
