Tigers Defense Stifles Van Meter

Tigers Defense Stifles Van Meter

The ADM girls basketball team earned a decisive 47-28 non-conference victory over Van Meter on Tuesday night, improving to 2-1 on the season. The Tigers showcased strong defense and balanced scoring to cap off their pre-Thanksgiving schedule on a high note.

Steady Dominance Throughout
ADM controlled the game from start to finish, jumping out to a 10-5 lead in the first quarter and never looking back. By halftime, the Tigers had extended their advantage to 23-12 behind efficient offense and relentless defense. Van Meter struggled to gain momentum, scoring just 14 points through three quarters. ADM's consistency in the second half helped seal the win, as they outscored Van Meter 12-7 in the third and 12-9 in the fourth.

Balanced Offensive Attack
ADM's success came from contributions across the roster. Senior Kelli Storck led the Tigers with 12 points, while freshman Ella Subbert and junior Madelyn Roundcount added 10 points each. Subbert also impressed on the boards with nine rebounds (four offensive), while Storck added five rebounds and four steals to her stat line.

Junior Alexis Maxwell chipped in seven points, including a three-pointer, while junior Lauren Hagedorn contributed four points and three offensive rebounds.

Key Defensive Effort
ADM's defense was stifling, forcing numerous turnovers and holding Van Meter to just 28 points. Subbert and Storck led the charge defensively, combining for eight of the team's 15 steals. The Tigers' ability to disrupt passing lanes and pressure the ball was instrumental in their success.

Team Stats
The Tigers finished the game shooting 46% from the field (18-for-46) and hit 67% of their free throws (8-for-12). ADM also controlled the rebounding battle, pulling down 28 boards, including nine on the offensive glass.

What's Next?
With the win, ADM heads into the Thanksgiving break at 2-1. The Tigers will have a chance to build on this momentum when they return to action on Tuesday, December 6, hosting Dallas Center-Grimes at 6:00 PM in Adel.
