ADM Softball Triumphs Over Winterset in Extra-Inning Thriller

In a highly anticipated Raccoon River Conference showdown, the No. 10 ranked ADM Tigers softball team emerged victorious over the No. 8 ranked Winterset Huskies with a 2-1 win in ten innings on Wednesday night. 

The Tigers struck first in the opening inning when Lauren Hagedorn launched a solo home run, putting ADM ahead 1-0. This early lead set the tone for a tightly contested game, as both teams showcased their defensive strengths.

Winterset responded in the second inning, tying the game 1-1. From there, the game turned into a pitching duel, with neither team able to break the deadlock through the regulation seven innings. ADM's Hagedorn and Winterset's pitching staff kept hitters at bay, forcing the game into extra innings.

The decisive moment came in the top of the 10th inning. Aleah Johnson sparked ADM's offense with a one-out triple, putting the Tigers in prime scoring position. Aniston Tollari then executed a perfect squeeze bunt, bringing Johnson home and giving ADM a 2-1 lead. 

Hagedorn, who also excelled in the pitcher's circle, completed a remarkable ten-inning performance. She threw 127 pitches, allowing just three hits and one run, while striking out eight and walking two. Her efforts were instrumental in maintaining ADM's edge throughout the game.
