Tigers Repeat: ADM Boys Capture Second Straight State Qualifying Meet Championship
The ADM Tigers boys track and field team delivered a dominant performance Thursday night at the Class 3A State Qualifying Meet in Glenwood, capturing the team title and sending a huge group of athletes to next week's Iowa High School State Track & Field Championships at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
ADM finished atop the team standings with 172 points while scoring in all 19 events contested. The Tigers qualified an incredible 13 events for the state meet, including all seven relay teams and seven athletes across six individual events. In total, 29 ADM boys will compete at the state meet beginning Thursday, May 21.
Leading the way individually was sophomore sprinter Zane Johnson, who qualified in both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash after winning both events. Johnson clocked an 11.54 in the 100 and followed with a winning time of 22.40 in the 200.
Junior Parker Hook earned a state berth in the 400-meter dash by winning the event in 50.28, while ADM dominated the 800-meter run as senior Ty Landphair and sophomore Jack Leistikow finished first and second to both qualify for state. Landphair crossed in 1:59.34 and Leistikow followed closely in 2:00.76.
In the field events, senior Nick Subbert punched his ticket to Drake Stadium with a runner-up finish in the discus at 151 feet, 9 inches, while junior Reid Kluesner qualified in the high jump by winning the event after clearing 6 feet, 4 inches.
ADM's relay teams also turned in a spectacular night, qualifying all seven relays for state competition.

The Tigers will now prepare for the Iowa High School State Track & Field Championships at Drake Stadium, where one of the largest state contingents in school history will represent ADM next weekend.
