Tigers Claim Title at Hugh Norman Relays

April 8, 2025 | Adel, Iowa — The ADM Boys Track and Field Team delivered a powerhouse performance at their home meet, the 2025 Hugh Norman Coed Relays, seizing first place with a dominant 178 team points. The Tigers outpaced a highly competitive field, including runner-up DC-Grimes (152 points) and Des Moines Christian (127 points), to claim the team title in front of an energized home crowd.

A Championship-Worthy Team Effort

From sprints to distance, field events to relays, the ADM boys left little doubt as to their depth and determination. Their collective effort powered them past six other strong programs, including Nevada (116), Winterset (71), Van Meter (46), and Clarke (33).

Leading the way were several standout performances, including a clean sweep in the High Jump, where Will Grasty and Kyler Chapman each cleared 6'2" to share first place. Sprint Power and Relay Dominance

The Tiger relay teams were just as fearsome:

  • The 4x100 Meter Relay squad of Engleman, Gerleman, Hatchitt, and Johnson stormed to victory in 42.85.

  • The 4x200 Relay team continued the trend, finishing first in 1:32.12.

  • The 800 Sprint Medley Relay crew of Gerleman, Hatchitt, Engleman, and Shull took home gold with a time of 1:34.63.

  • To cap it off, the 4x400 Relay team brought the crowd to its feet, cruising to a first-place finish in 3:28.18 behind strong legs from Rynearson, Hook, Davison, and Forgy.

Strong Distance and Hurdle Contributions

Max Marple (10:25.66) and Robbie Hall (10:41.45) finished 2nd and 5th in the 3200 Meter Run, while Hall added a 4th place finish in the 800 Meter Run. In the 1600 Meter, Torin Timmerman placed 4th and Ty Landphair was 6th, showing ADM's versatility in the long events.

On the hurdles, Corbin Reed claimed 2nd in the 110 Meter Hurdles (15.24) and placed 8th in the 400 Meter Hurdles. The Shuttle Hurdle Relay team also added a solid 2nd place in 1:05.78.

Field Events Set the Tone

Caleb Oberhoffer and Beau Wahlert added depth in the Discus, helping ADM rack up valuable points across the field events. Not to be overlooked, the depth in junior varsity events also paid dividends, with ADM athletes sweeping the top spots in the JV 3200 Meter Run and 100 Meter Dash.
