Tigers Punch Ticket to State Tournament

The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn boys basketball team is headed back to Des Moines.

ADM delivered a dominant performance Monday night at ADM High School, defeating Nevada 73-43 in the Class 3A Substate 6 Championship to earn a spot in the Iowa High School Athletic Association State Tournament for the second consecutive year.

The Tigers improved to 22-2 on the season and will now prepare to take the court at the Casey's Center next week. Nevada finishes a strong season at 21-4.

Fast Start Sets the Tone

After a competitive opening stretch, ADM quickly seized control. The Tigers exploded in the first quarter, turning a tight game into a commanding 26-5 lead by the end of the period.

Nevada found some rhythm offensively in the second quarter, scoring 17 points, but ADM continued to pour it on with another 24-point frame to take a 50-22 halftime advantage.

The Tigers maintained control throughout the second half, outscoring the Cubs 23-21 over the final two quarters to secure the decisive 73-43 victory.

Balanced Offensive Attack

Senior Hudson Lorensen led the way with a game-high 27 points, shooting 10-of-19 from the field, knocking down two three-pointers, and going a perfect 5-for-5 at the free throw line.

Senior Trey Bryte added 14 points, including an impressive 8-of-10 performance from the charity stripe. Bryte also stuffed the stat sheet with 12 defensive rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and three steals.

Senior Hudson Shull contributed 10 points, while several Tigers added valuable production:

  • Hayden Dohlman – 6 points, 7 rebounds

  • Eli Wiebers – 5 points

  • Carson Oberhoffer – 4 points

  • Reece Strittmatter – 4 points

  • Tate Troster – 3 points

As a team, ADM shot 26-of-58 from the field, connected on five three-pointers, and went 16-of-19 from the free throw line. The Tigers controlled the glass with 39 total rebounds (27 defensive) and added 10 assists, six steals, and four blocks in a well-rounded effort.

Back to Des Moines

With the win, ADM advances to the Class 3A State Tournament for the second straight season. The Tigers will play next Monday at 2:00 PM at the Casey's Center in Des Moines. Their first-round opponent has not yet been announced.
