Tigers Advance to Substate Championship

The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Boys Basketball Team delivered a dominant performance Thursday night at ADM High School, defeating Benton 76-35 in the Class 3A Substate 6 Second Round to advance to the championship game.

ADM wasted no time setting the tone. The Tigers erupted for 27 first-quarter points while holding the Bobcats to just six, using defensive pressure and efficient shooting to build an early double-digit advantage. Benton found more rhythm offensively in the second quarter with 13 points, but ADM maintained control and carried a commanding 41-19 lead into halftime.

The Tigers put the game out of reach in the third quarter. ADM outscored Benton 22-7 in the period, stretching the margin to 63-26 heading into the final frame. With the outcome well in hand, the Tigers closed out the night with a 13-point fourth quarter to secure the 76-35 victory.

Senior Hudson Lorensen led the charge offensively with 24 points, knocking down four three-pointers and going 4-of-5 from the free throw line. Senior Trey Bryte filled the stat sheet with 12 points while adding seven rebounds, 11 assists, and three steals in an impressive all-around effort. Senior Hudson Shull contributed nine points, while Ben Plaisance and Hayden Dohlman each added six.

ADM shot an efficient 31-of-55 from the field and distributed the ball extremely well, finishing with 21 assists on 31 made baskets. The Tigers also controlled the glass with 29 total rebounds and forced 12 steals defensively.

For Benton, senior Eli Patterson and junior Kaleb Hayden each scored 11 points, while junior Brooks Mitchell-Birdsell added seven. The Bobcats conclude their season with a 13-10 record.

With the win, ADM improves to 21-2 on the season and will now host Nevada in the Class 3A Substate 6 Championship on Monday, March 2nd, at ADM High School. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m., with a trip to the state tournament on the line.
