ADM Boys Basketball Knocks Off No. 1 Ballard in RRC Showdown

 

The ADM boys basketball team earned a signature River Raccoon Conference victory Friday night, defeating unbeaten and top-ranked Ballard, 62–57, in Adel. The Tigers entered the matchup ranked No. 4 in Class 3A, while the Bombers came in undefeated and ranked No. 1 in the state.

Ballard held a narrow 13–10 advantage after the first quarter, but ADM responded in the second, outscoring the Bombers 16–12 to take a 26–25 lead into halftime.

The Tigers continued to build momentum in the third quarter, edging Ballard 15–11 to push their lead to five heading into the final period. Both teams poured in 21 points in the fourth quarter, setting the stage for a tense finish.

Ballard pulled within two points late, but senior Hudson Lorensen delivered when it mattered most. Lorensen buried a clutch three-pointer and followed it up with calm, confident free throws down the stretch to secure the upset win.

Lorensen led all scorers with a game-high 32 points, including a perfect 15-for-15 effort from the free throw line. Senior Trey Bryte added 13 points for the Tigers.

Ballard was led by junior Evan Abbott with 24 points, while senior Jude Gibson finished with 13.

With the win, ADM improves to 14–2 overall and 11–2 in River Raccoon Conference play. Ballard drops to 14–1 overall and 11–1 in the RRC.
