Tigers Chase Away Tornadoes - Advance to Semifinals

The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn (ADM) Boys Basketball team took a crucial step toward a state championship on Monday, securing a 59-53 victory over Storm Lake in the Class 3A Quarterfinals at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. The win propels the Tigers to the semifinal round, where they will face top-seeded Clear Lake on Thursday at 10:30 a.m.

ADM, the No. 5 seed, battled against fourth-seeded Storm Lake in a back-and-forth contest that saw key momentum shifts throughout the game. The Tornadoes started strong, jumping out to an 8-2 lead in the opening quarter, but the Tigers clawed their way back to trail just 12-11 at the end of the first frame. The second quarter remained evenly matched, with both teams scoring 14 points, resulting in a 26-25 Storm Lake lead at halftime.

The Tigers took control in the third quarter, outscoring Storm Lake 17-8 to establish a 42-34 advantage heading into the final period. Despite the Tornadoes closing the gap to within four points late in the game, ADM's sharp shooting and clutch performances sealed the victory. Key three-pointers from junior Hudson Shull and senior Wyatt Schweiger, along with vital free throws from junior Trey Bryte, ensured ADM's advancement.

Scoring contributions were well-balanced for the Tigers, with Shull and Bryte leading the way at 13 points each. Junior Hudson Lorensen and senior Cade Fisher followed closely with 12 points apiece, while Schweiger added nine. Fisher had a standout performance, recording a school-record 19 rebounds along with five assists in an all-around stellar effort.

Storm Lake's impressive season concludes with a 22-2 record, while ADM improves to 22-4. The Tigers now shift their focus to Thursday's semifinal showdown against No. 1 Clear Lake, as they continue their pursuit of a state championship.
