State Bound! Tigers Punch Ticket to Wells Fargo

The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn (ADM) Boys Basketball team is headed to the Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) Class 3A State Tournament for the first time in 13 years after an electrifying 52-46 victory over Pella in Monday night's substate final at ADM High School.

The Tigers earned their spot at Wells Fargo Arena with a hard-fought battle against the Dutch in the Class 3A Region 7 Championship game. The contest remained tight from the opening tip, with neither team leading by more than six points at any point. Pella held a 13-10 advantage after the first quarter and extended that lead to 27-22 by halftime.

ADM clawed back in the third quarter, outscoring the Dutch 15-11 to pull within one, trailing just 38-37 heading into the final frame. The Tigers then turned up the defensive pressure and executed down the stretch, outscoring Pella 15-8 in the fourth quarter to secure the six-point victory and punch their ticket to the state tournament.

Lorensen Leads the Charge

Junior guard Hudson Lorensen put on a stellar performance, leading ADM with 24 points, including a perfect 10-for-10 showing at the free-throw line. The standout junior also reached a career milestone, eclipsing the 1,000-point mark. ADM also received key contributions from junior Hudson Shull and senior Cade Fisher, who each added eight points.

For Pella, junior Harrison Mullens led the Dutch with 11 points, while junior David Garner contributed 10. Senior Colin Kerndt chipped in with six. The Dutch's season concludes with an 18-7 record, while ADM improves to 21-4 as they head to Des Moines.

State Tournament Matchup Set

With the victory, ADM advances to the Class 3A State Tournament at Wells Fargo Arena, where they will face off against Storm Lake in the quarterfinals. Tip-off is set for Monday at 7:15 p.m. in Des Moines.
