Tigers Open Season With Thriller Over DCG

The ADM Tigers kicked off their 2024-25 season in spectacular fashion, claiming an 84-81 overtime victory against the Dallas Center-Grimes (DCG) Mustangs on Tuesday night. It was a game filled with high drama, clutch plays, and a gritty comeback that electrified the home crowd.

Slow Start, Strong Finish
ADM found themselves in a tough spot early as DCG came out firing, taking a commanding 23-13 lead after the first quarter and DCG extended their lead to 46-35 at halftime.

The Tigers regrouped during the break, tightening up their defense and finding their offensive rhythm. Junior Hudson Shull was instrumental in holding Cason to just seven points over the remaining three periods. ADM's third-quarter surge, fueled by strong play from juniors Trey Bryte and Hudson Lorensen, trimmed the deficit to 57-52 heading into the final quarter.

A Clutch Fourth Quarter
In the fourth quarter ADM outscored DCG 20-15, with Shull delivering a game-tying three-pointer in the closing moments to make it 72-72. Bryte had a chance to win the game in regulation, but his three-point attempt at the buzzer just missed, sending the contest into overtime.

Overtime Heroics
In the extra period, ADM capitalized on their momentum. Shull's clutch three-pointer put the Tigers ahead 82-78, and the team made crucial free throws down the stretch to secure the victory. The defense held firm, and the Tigers completed their hard-fought comeback.

Key Performers
ADM's balanced offensive attack was led by Lorensen, who scored 29 points, including 11-for-13 from the free-throw line. Bryte added 27 points, and Shull chipped in with 13 points, including two critical three-pointers, while Cade Fisher contributed five points and seven rebounds.

Looking Ahead
The Tigers (1-0) will aim to build on their thrilling start as they host North Polk on Friday in Adel.
