District Champs! Tigers Win Thriller over Lewis Central
ADEL, Iowa (October 17) — The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Football Team clawed their way past Lewis Central in dramatic fashion Friday night, securing a 31–28 victory at ADM High School. With the win, the Tigers capture the Class 4A District 6 Championship and an automatic berth in the 4A playoffs, where they will host a first-round opponent to be announced.
A Battle From the Start
The matchup lived up to its billing as a clash of heavyweights. Lewis Central entered on a seven-game winning streak against ADM, but the Tigers set the tone early. Senior Reed Obstarczyk capped an 80-yard opening drive with a 6-yard touchdown run to give ADM a 7–0 lead. The Titans answered with a short touchdown run from sophomore Braydan Doss to tie the game at 7–7.
The only other points of the first half came courtesy of Tiger senior Colby Simons, who drilled a 42-yard field goal late in the second quarter to put ADM ahead 10–7 at the break.
Offensive Fireworks in the Second Half
The game erupted in the second half with both teams trading blows. Lewis Central struck first with another Doss touchdown to take a 14–10 lead. ADM responded immediately, as junior Alex Jensen powered in from 8 yards out on the ensuing drive to regain a 17–14 advantage.
Late in the third quarter, Titan quarterback Brody Chubb found senior Leonardo Tatum for a 21-yard score to give Lewis Central a 21–17 lead heading into the fourth.
Senior quarterback Hudson Shull put ADM back on top early in the fourth with a 9-yard touchdown run, but the Titans countered with a 21-yard passing touchdown from Chubb to Peyton Phippen to make it 28–24 in favor of Lewis Central.
Then came the play of the night — with just minutes remaining, Shull appeared bottled up in the backfield before breaking loose for a spectacular 64-yard touchdown run, giving ADM the decisive 31–28 lead.
Shull Leads the Charge
Shull was sensational for the Tigers, completing 9 passes for 129 yards and rushing 22 times for 240 yards and two touchdowns. Obstarczyk and Jensen added one rushing touchdown each.
On defense, Carson Oberhoffer, Jackson Pitzen, and Eli Wiebers led a resilient Tiger unit that came up with key stops down the stretch.
For Lewis Central, Chubb threw for 219 yards and two touchdowns, while Doss rushed for 123 yards and two scores. Tatum and Phippen were the recipients of Chubb's TD passes.
