Shawn Beenken Named As New Head Baseball Coach For ADM
ADM is excited to announce that Shawn Beenken has accepted the position of Head Baseball Coach at ADM pending approval by the ADM School Board.
Coach Beenken is a proven leader who is no stranger to baseball success and player development. Coach Beenken has served as a varsity assistant coach at Waukee High School for the past 13 years. During his 13 years, he was named the 2024 Central District Assistant Coach of the Year and also served as the 2025 IAHSBCA All-Star Series Large School West Coach. Coach Beenken is known for his ability to develop players in his program along with passing on his passion for baseball to those he coaches. Coach Beenken has been a part of 9 teams that have qualified for the Class 4A state tournament during his time at Waukee. Coach Beenken will bring this pedigree, along with the ability to develop players, to the ADM Baseball program.
Shawn and his wife, Mallory, have two daughters - Hattye (8) and Millie (3), and they have lived in Adel since 2018. He graduated from Iowa State University in 2011 with a Degree in Kinesiology and then earned his Masters of Science in Education for Health and Physical Education from Northwest Missouri State University in 2024. He began his coaching career at Blue Valley High School in Overland Park, Kansas while student teaching and after graduating he coached a season at North Tama High School. Shawn was then hired at Waukee Community School District in 2011, where he has taught elementary physical education and coached baseball for the past 13 years.
When asked about his new position at ADM, Coach Beenken stated, "I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to lead the ADM Tiger Baseball Program. As a resident of Adel, I've witnessed firsthand how passionate about baseball this community is and I can't wait to get to work with the young men here. Getting to be a part of ADM athletics and work alongside all the amazing and dedicated coaches here is truly an honor. I am ready to build on the strong tradition of success here at ADM and to establish a brand of Tiger Baseball that our players, school, and community can take great pride in."
