Bio

Russ Braun has been teaching and directing bands for 30 years, with a career dedicated to inspiring students through music. He began his teaching career at West Sioux Community Schools (1995–2000) before joining ADM in 2000, where he continues to serve as Director of Bands. Mr. Braun directs the Marching Band, Jazz Band, Pep Band, and Concert Band, while also preparing students for All-State auditions and Solo & Ensemble festivals. Under his leadership, ensembles have earned 21 Division I ratings at State Large Group Festival and 16 Division I ratings at State Marching Band. His philosophy centers on helping students discover their passion and unlock their potential, equipping them with skills for success beyond graduation. Mr. Braun holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of South Dakota and a Master’s degree from Morningside College. In his spare time, Russ enjoys time with his wife Melodie and two daughters Taylor and Jenna.
